One Final Trip

Saturday, June 28th
The five of us (Caroline, Maggie, Pat, Mickey and I) departed New Zealand at 4:30am and headed off to Sydney. After a night with roughly 1 hour of sleep, it was a gift from god that Mickey and I each got our own row. After aimlessly following a man around for our free shuttle we were finally on our way into the city and our hostel. When we got to the hostel we met a Jesus-looking man who was unable to figure out our payment. Then we took our 15 minute elevator ride up to the 11th floor to our private room. We then all crashed for an hour or two before exploring Sydney. We decided to head over to the Opera House where there was a crazy wind storm. There were plates and bushes flying everywhere, Pat even almost lost his hat. It seemed like a storm was coming but there was never any rain, just dark clouds and crazy winds. We escaped the cold and grabbed dinner at a local pub where I got my first meat-pie of my abroad experience. That night our hostel took us to a club in Darling Harbour where we got free entry. It was a much different going out experience and after some hectic confusion we all made is safely back into our beds.

Sunday, June 29th
After having such a strange Opera House experience, we decided to head back to see it in the sun. We got drinks and lunch at the Opera Bar while we enjoyed the live music. After saying goodbye to Caroline we hopped on a ferry to Luna Land. This was a small amusement park that was filled with the creepiest clowns. We got to ride on a bunch of the rides and dance in a parade. We had an early night in playing cards and cooking dinner in the hostel.

Monday, June 30th
We met at the bus stop at 7:15am to get on our tour to the Blue Mountains. We had to drive a bit but we stopped off at the Featherland Wildlife Park where we got to play with wallaby's, feed kangaroos, pet koalas, and see Australian animals like dingoes and the Tasmanian devil. Afterwards we drove to the Blue Mountains and were able to see the Three Sisters and many other beautiful sights. During the tour we experienced a traditional Aussie Barbecue with kangaroo! That night we went out with our hostel again and had so much fun

Tuesday, June 1st
It was our last day in Sydney so we took a bus to explore the famous Bondi Beach. It was a laid back surf area which I can only imagine is extremely crowded in the summer. It was so nice to escape the city and lay on the sand and watch all the surfers (including Pat). We also learned there was a shark attack there earlier that morning!
